Well for my 2 cents - Sins is right - I do not have friends in the war but I do have friends that have their kids over there fighting. From what they say the media is tainted with anti war crap but the boys and girls over there KNOW that they need to be there. I just wonder what would have happened if a liberal was in office when 911 hit us - send over a d**n piece pipe to the terroists and hope they would not attack us again. Threaten to send our troops over but then realize someone might get hurt? ?? crap Hillary is about as Liberal as can be and seems to not be able to keep her stories straight. She voted for the war - or did she? Uh well maybe she did but she did not mean to? What a joke she is IMO. Leadership takes accountablility and Bush has taken on the whole worlds media and is holding his own. GJ Sins and Thank You and all the rest of our guys and gals for service to the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA OH Yeah: Hillary is one of my Senators - sorry I had nothing to do with it other than vote Republican

I dont like bush, not because of the war, i just dont like the man. I understand what is going on - to an extent - as many of my friends are over there. But i look at things from another angle too, about 3000 have died in the last 5-6 years, to put it in perspective. One battle of WWI killed 1.2 million in the course of 3 months, while 2,500 Allied soldiers were killed on D-Day (June 6, 1945) alone. I am neither pro, or against the war, however I am behind the troops 110%

Might as well throw in my 2 cents... As for the war, i'm not really sure where i stand. I can come from quite a few different angles. The Strongest I think, is we took a cold blooded killer out of control of an entire nation. How many of his own people did he kill?... but at the same time, we're the people who put that man in power, the same way we did Fidel Castro. I cant blame Bush one bit for going to war. What would the world have thought if we did nothing back in 01'? He would have been called all sorts of names. He was angry, just as the rest of the country was, and wanted to try to make sure it didn't happen again. But, why must we wait for such an infamous time? Why not do it sooner? The same morals would have applied before 9-11 as they did afterwards. 3,000 Americans died that day. ONE day. I sure as hell don't want that to happen again. They weren't soldiers, or rebels. They were just ordinary people at work, trying to make a living. It hit some harder than others, but just imagine a loved one leaving for work in the morning, and watching a 747 fly into the building they work in on the news. I dont know about you guys, but i watched the second plane crash live on tv that morning, right before i went to school. Our nation was week, and hurt. I remember we didn't do anything that day. We had it on tv in every class, and even all the way over here in Phoenix, a lot of people were calling back to NY to check on their friends and families to make sure they were alright.
As for Bush, I used to like the Man, probably because I lean more towards the Republican side, mostly because of gun rights. However, ever since he began trying to overturn Roe vs. Wade, i can hardly stand him... he's gone way down hill to me. Still, you have to give the man a lot of credit. Unlike what I think most any other president at the time would have done for the war, he has stuck to his word, and is doing everything he has said he is going to do, trying to help them out. I'm sure he probably has his own agenda with that as well. Gons, i think you're wrong on one part. The nation wanted to go to war, and we would have, no matter who was in office. I believe the difference is, Bush is still trying. He didn't give up in the middle of ripping a country apart because our country decided war was too harsh. Most any other president now days, would have pulled out long ago, trying to save their reputation.
As for the media, EVERY history class i have ever took, be it High School or College, said the same, or close to the same thing. It is 90% entertainment, and 10% truth. Not saying the things they tell you are not true, because a lot of it is. however, they play with the numbers and words, and make it seem like it's worse than it is. They care about ratings, nothing more. There is a lot more going on in the war than the media or the public knows. Is that for the good or the bad? I don't know, but you cannot base your opinions on the war from what you hear on the news.

Hey kiddos, here's my 4 cents and put on your reading glasses and get a shot of whiskey cuz this is gonna take a while and it'll probably piss you off cuz it's wordy as hell and probably quite repetitive. First off, dont blame bush for all of the problems in the world, everywhere I go I hear things like, "the levees broke", "the bridge in minneapolis collapsed", "a bee stung my daughter and now i have to put a bandaid and some d**n baking soda on her wound and it's alll busshh'ss faaulltt" *waves arms suggestively*, and to suggest that HE'S the one killing the troops is outrageous, none of them HAVE to be there, they're doing it out of their own free will. second off, i'd much rather be in peace, but sometimes, i.e. this time, war is NECESSARY. If we weren't over there fighting on their turf, and sending a peace pipe over like gonsie said, we'd be fighting them HERE, and not just the security measures, we'd be fighting in our neighborhoods and places that youngsters like me hang out in town. we'd have to deal with car bombs, IEDs, kidnappings and daily beheadings in the midst of our loved children, spouses and elderly..oh and our dogs too, THEY’D KILL OUR NON-RADICAL MUSLIM DOGS!. the insurgents dont give a d**n who they attack, to them, anyone who isn't a radical islamic is an infidel and must be dealt with accordingly. So seeing the alternative, we should support the war and the troops fully. and not only the "oh sure i support the troops so the most i'll do is put a bumper-sticker on the back of my car" (not that it doesn't help people(me) feel a sense of pride for our protectors), but there's always something you can do. such as, stopping the bull crap bills that include pay cuts and funding-cuts for the war that passes through the senate almost on a weekly basis that make it so the troops find it difficult to obtain the necessary amount of ammo for their terrorist-killing, ass-kickin' guns. And these narrow-minded, self righteous and conceited liberal Democrats that have a hidden agenda to bring their party to "glory" and power are the cause of all the anti-soldier/war slander that's demoralizing the troops and pissing me off. .. woo..sorry bout that, but I got more oh yeah, more about the war . The Iraqi people are an amazing race and have a brilliant culture, it’s just the bit with the extremists, Sunni I think it is, that cast a terrible shadow over the rest of the religion and undermine the good people. Moreover, despite their need for us there, they WANT us there. In every Kurdish home you can find an Iraqi flag, and an American flag right along side that (you can quote me on that because the leader of the Kurds has said it on national television many a time). And on the videos you don’t see, ya know..the ones that CNN doesn’t show us, you can see children running along-side convoys of marine forces holding miniature American flags, much like the ones I flaunt around on the 4th of July, and giving the troops thumbs up and other happy gestures. Knowing that, when I hear that the so-called honorary Democrats want to pull out on April 22nd of next year when the surge hasn’t had time to take its full effect, even though it’s already proving to be a tremendously good strategic move, it makes me think of the people left behind and the job we won’t have finished. Since we’ve taken it upon ourselves to go to Iraq and end the oppression of the Iraqi people, it is our DUTY to stay and finish until the end, and the alternative would be an endless bloodbath that would engulf the entire east and possibly move to the west because that’s that President Tom(can’t spell his name for crap) of Iran wants and clearly says almost on a daily basis. crap , where was I going with this? I dunno..new subject crap..i was gonna say more about the troops but I’m tired and I’ll do another post with troop stuff later.. now, next point. The troops aren’t allowed to do their d**n jobs. People are too focused on the bull crap stuff like the alleged atrocities that are blamed on the troops, like rape and murder and how we should treat the wonderful scumbag terrorists that we have sitting in Guantanimo Bay, they eat better food than I do on a bi-daily basis! (I don’t eat breakfast). If the troops were allowed to fight like they fought in world war 2 this thing would be way over by now and we would have moved onto Iran ..but tha’ts for a later discussion .. Oh yeah, back to the main point of the thread lol, as a wise man once said, “You can disrespect the War. You can disrespect the enemy. You can even disrespect the people leading the war. But you can never, ever disrespect the soldier” or something like that, I forget who said it but I totally agree with it. Solders are here to protect your rights, like your rights to sit in front of your mirror and do your hair and go to the mall while he doesn’t have time to brush his teeth, they’re here for your right to push away the food you don’t want at the dinner table when he’s not allowed to eat that day, they’re here to patrol the streets looking for insurgents, bombs and people that want to kill them while you sit at home and watch tv, they’re here to die for your right to wear “end the war” and “screw the troops” shirts and protest their very existence. I find it infuriating that there are people that don’t care about the troops. I remember a time..well no I don’t…re-do, There was a time, *cough* World War 2*cough* when it was the highest honor for a family to have a son or a father join the armed forces and become a soldier to fight in the war, now, im sorry to say that there are people and families and im ashamed to admit*cough* my grandparents* cough* are some of these, that find it to be the lowest, sleaziest most disgraceful job that anyone could ever have. I’m not saying this is true for everybody but I thought I should spit that out there. Point is, I feel the need to respect the troops less only than our great country and flag, if not equally. and I say this partly because, soon I’m going to be a troop and you d**n well better not pregnant dog about it or disgrace my comrades in any way or I’ll kick ya in your asses . I’m not old enough to vote yet, but I’ll be old enough come the next election, and you can d**n well bet that I’ll be voting for the right man. anyway, I’ve got loads more to say but I’m gonna spare you the antics and shenanigans until a later date Good night oh! p.s. this is [hoba]_charlie and i thought i'd drop by and say hey, but i got distracted by this thread so..hey!
